Texture

My working definition of ethnography focuses on understanding how cultural narratives are stitched together in seamless or chunky ways, splitting or resting nicely depending on the character of threads used.  The stories I aim to tell are always searching for the texture, the rocky terrain of any story’s scope.  I do not believe in fairy tales or easy narratives or linear pathways.  Roads are always bumpy and potholed.  Journeys are always sidelined.  Knots and kinks are the rule.  Pretty stories are impossible exceptions.
