The Sweetgoddess Project debuts on February 6, 2010 as part of the Chicago Fringe Artists Networking Night (CFANN), a multidisciplinary performance event.
Sweetgoddess is a creative collaboration between Performance Scholar-Artist Meida Teresa McNeal (Artistic Director), Diasporic Movement Researcher Meccasia Zabriskie (Collaborating Artist) and Urban Dance Activist Boogie McClarin (Collaborating Artist). Built in three sections and set to the music of Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, this intimate duet blurs between representations of women as disco glam warriors, urban royalty and Orisha-inspired goddesses.
CFANN is hosted by the Red Tape Theatre Company and will take place at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 621 W. Belmont Avenue from 8pm-midnight. Sweetgoddess is scheduled to take the stage at approximately 10:30pm. Admission is $20 for an all access pass, including snacks and wine all night.
